What the app does
- Three baskets for every word
A correct answer moves a word one basket further, a wrong one back to zero. Words that still wobble come up more often.
- Meaning and example sentence
For each word there is what it means and a sentence using it. The meaning does not give the article away – the sentence does.
- Every word read aloud
Real recordings, not a robot voice. Children hear a child’s voice, adults pick their own.
- Rules that are counted, not claimed
Every rule shows the percentage of words it really holds for – with all the exceptions listed underneath.
- Several players on one device
Everyone has their own progress and their own level. One tablet is enough for the whole family.
- Offline and without an account
Once loaded it runs without a network. No sign-up, no e-mail, no ads – the progress stays on the device.

Who it is made for
Three levels, and the level decides not only the vocabulary but also how much of the interface is shown at all. What matters is whether someone can already read – not their age.

The rules are part of it
36 rules about the gender of German nouns – each one counted against all the words of the app, with its hit rate and its exceptions. They are on the web too, with nothing to install.

- In the browser, no installation
Open it and play – on a phone, a tablet or a laptop. The progress is stored in the browser and is there again next time.
- Install it as an app
Via the browser menu, “Add to home screen”. After that it starts full screen and runs without a network.

The same app is also available for Android as a download.
Frequent questions
Does the app cost anything?
No. All words, all topics and all rules are free. There are no ads and no in-app purchases.
Do I need an account?
No. No account is created, no e-mail address is asked for and no password is set. Players and progress live in the browser storage of the device.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After the first start, words, pictures and recordings are on the device. Nothing is missing without a network.
What age is it for?
From about four – on the smallest level every word has a picture and there is a single button, so nobody has to read. The top level is meant for adults learning German.
What can it not do?
It practises the article in the nominative – der Hund, die Katze, das Pferd. Cases, plurals and declension do not appear, and it does not translate vocabulary.
